TIMESHARE
For the uninitiated, the timeshare concept simply put, spells signing up for a basic membership by blocking any one week in a year, at a resort of your choice and availing your holiday week at the resort for a pre-decided number of years. Your timeshare week in turn becomes like the currency that you use every year to take your holiday at a resort of your choice. The membership is usually for 10 - 25 years wherein the membership amount depends on the location, the week of the year you choose to buy and the size of your accommodation, which can be small (studio), medium (1 bedroom) and large (2 bedroom) sized units.

As the owner of a unit for a specific week at a specific resort you can split the week, exchange the week for a week in another resort, transfer the week to another entity, rent the week and also sell the week.
The value of your week is graded based on the type of season you buy into. The peak season (is marked in red in the timeshare calendar); mid season is usually the less than ideal times for a vacation (marked as white) and the low season (marked as blue). So, a studio apartment in a hill station during a 'blue’ week will cost much less to buy and rent than a two-bedroom large unit in the same resort in summer or over a Diwali/new year period.
The true essence of this concept is that by pre-booking your holidays through vacation ownership you can maintain your average room tariff at a fixed, affordable level for a period of around 10-25 years and also enjoy a variety of memorable vacations with your loved ones.
